Philippine Airlines Takes Delivery of Its First Airbus A350-1000

Philippine Airlines (PAL) has officially taken delivery of its first Airbus A350-1000, becoming the 10th airline worldwide to operate the largest variant of Airbus’ A350 family. The delivery marks a major milestone in the flag carrier’s long-haul fleet expansion and signals a stronger push into ultra-long-range transpacific operations.

Configured in a premium three-class layout with 382 seats, the A350-1000 is set to redefine Philippine Airlines’ long-haul offering. The aircraft’s range and efficiency will allow PAL to expand non-stop services to key North American destinations, improving connectivity between the Philippines and the United States.

Strengthening Long-Haul Capability

This aircraft is the first of nine A350-1000s ordered as part of the airline’s fleet modernization programme. It will operate alongside PAL’s existing A350-900 fleet, already in service on long-haul routes, providing additional capacity and flexibility for high-demand sectors.

The introduction of the A350-1000 reinforces Philippine Airlines’ strategy to grow its widebody fleet while enhancing operational reliability, fuel efficiency, and passenger comfort.

A350: Setting the Benchmark in Widebody Aviation

The Airbus A350 is regarded as the world’s most modern widebody aircraft, setting new standards in intercontinental travel. Its advanced aerodynamics, next-generation engines, and extensive use of lightweight composite materials deliver up to a 25% reduction in fuel burn, operating costs, and CO₂ emissions compared to previous-generation aircraft.

Passengers benefit from Airbus’ Airspace cabin, featuring wider seats, higher ceilings, larger windows, and customizable ambient lighting designed to reduce fatigue on long-haul flights.

Sustainability at the Core

In line with Airbus’ sustainability roadmap, the A350 is already capable of operating with up to 50% Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF). Airbus aims to make all its aircraft 100% SAF-capable by 2030, supporting airlines in reducing their environmental footprint.

Global Success of the A350 Family

As of end of November 2025, the A350 Family has secured nearly 1,500 orders from 66 customers worldwide, underscoring its position as a long-range leader in the widebody market.

The delivery of the A350-1000 positions Philippine Airlines strongly for the next phase of long-haul growth combining range, efficiency, sustainability, and passenger experience in one platform.
