Jet Blast: Understanding Hazards & Mitigation

Jet Blast: Unveiling the Invisible Threat Explore the hidden power, risks, and essential safety measures surrounding jet blast in airport operations. As air travel grows and aircraft engines become more powerful, understanding and mitigating jet blast becomes increasingly critical for airport safety, operational efficiency, and environmental harmony. Understanding Jet Blast Jet blast, the powerful exhaust from aircraft engines, is most intense during takeoff and high-power ground operations. Born from the rapid expulsion of superheated air, its immense kinetic energy is capable of moving large objects, causing structural damage, and creating hazardous conditions. This invisible force, though often underestimated, presents substantial risks if not meticulously managed, impacting everything from ground personnel safety to the integrity of nearby structures and equipment. ...

Tanzania Allocates TZS 2.746 Trillion to Transport Sector in 2025/26 Budget — Aviation Gets a Major Boost

In a landmark move that reaffirms Tanzania’s commitment to strengthening its transport infrastructure, the Parliament has approved a TZS 2.746 trillion budget for the Ministry of Transport for the 2025/2026 financial year. While the budget covers the entire transport sector—spanning air, land, and water—significant attention is being directed toward aviation development , reflecting the strategic role it plays in supporting national growth and international connectivity. Out of the total budget, TZS 125.4 billion has been allocated for recurrent expenditure, including salaries and operational costs. The lion’s share, TZS 2.621 trillion , is earmarked for development projects, with TZS 2.45 trillion coming from domestic sources and TZS 168.5 billion from international partners. Aviation Development: A Central Focus Among the biggest winners in this budget is Tanzania’s aviation sector , which continues to attract priority investment as part of the government’s broader transport mod...

Ampaire’s AMP-H570 Becomes First Hybrid System to Secure FAA Certification Basis

Image
In a landmark development for sustainable aviation, Ampaire has announced that the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has issued a G-1 Certification Basis for its AMP-H570 hybrid electric propulsion system . This approval marks the first time a hybrid electric system has received such recognition from the FAA, positioning Ampaire as a frontrunner in the race to electrify air travel. The G-1 Certification Basis establishes the airworthiness and environmental benchmarks that the AMP-H570 must meet to achieve a Supplemental Type Certificate (STC). With this milestone, Ampaire moves into the next phase of the certification process—defining the Means of Compliance and conducting extensive validation testing in collaboration with the FAA. Hybrid Tech for a Greener Sky The AMP-H570 system features a parallel hybrid architecture inspired by early automotive hybrids. This configuration enables in-flight battery recharging, eliminating the need for ground-based charging infrastructure a...

Boeing 787 Dreamliner Surpasses 1 Billion Passengers in Record Time

Image
In a major milestone for commercial aviation, Boeing has announced that its revolutionary 787 Dreamliner fleet has officially carried more than 1 billion passengers since it first entered service in 2011. This incredible achievement, reached in just under 14 years, makes the 787 the fastest widebody aircraft in history to hit the billion-passenger mark—a clear sign of its profound impact on the way the world travels. Designed from the start to change the game in long-haul air travel, the Dreamliner has lived up to its promise of connecting distant cities with more comfort, greater fuel efficiency, and operational versatility. Since its debut, more than 1,175 Dreamliners have taken to the skies, collectively flying nearly 5 million flights and logging over 30 million flight hours . These numbers aren't just statistics—they reflect a transformation in global air connectivity, particularly in enabling new direct routes between cities that were once considered too far apart to be ec...
